Climate change poses a fundamental threat to the places, species and people’s livelihoods.

To adequately address this crisis we must urgently put intentional efforts to protect the water catchment areas. Human activities in the catchment area of a village water supply can lead to water pollution and negatively impact public health. Water catchment protection is therefore also important in securing clean and safe drinking water.

Prevention of pollution is essential and a regular sanitary inspection, to detect any sources of contamination, will help in securing good quality drinking water .Water catchment protection can save money through lower costs for medication for water borne diseases and less sickness in the working population.

One huge way of protecting water catchment areas is through tree planting. Planting trees in reservoir catchments can have positive effects. Afforestation of previously bare or heavily eroded areas can control soil erosion, thereby extending the life of the reservoir and improving water quality.

The Kaloito Tree Planting Festivals targets to plant 50000 trees in Identified water catchment areas in Kajiado County, this activity is meant to bring different partners and actors together in Kajiado to take part In this masterpiece.
The tree planting festival activity is in line with President William Ruto’s call to plant 15 billion trees in the next decade,
Kenya as a country has recently been faced by a dire drought situation which killed thousands of cattle and wild game throughout the country.
